Bloody Bill

Okay, for this story to make sense, you have to start at the beginning, the very beginning...

My dad likes to make up scary stories. When all the grandkids were here for Pioneer Day, they went on a hike with Grandpa, who told them the story of Bloody Bill. The kids were all caught up with the story and amidst all 6 of them trying to tell it to us, this is what I got out of it. Bloody Bill used to hear kids who were camping out and would be drawn to their campfires, then cut off their big toes and drink the blood. Nice story, huh.

So, that night we were trying to get the kids to go to bed, but Bloody Bill was still on their minds. So, we told them that since Uncle Doug was a policeman, he had caught Bloody Bill and put him in jail so that he wouldn't come get them. That worked for a bit, but then Sierra decided she had to make sure, so we called Uncle Doug, (who probably thought we were crazy), and Jay got him to tell Sierra that Bloody Bill was in jail and couldn't come out and get them.

Fast forward to today, where we had a Primary activity. The kids were putting together ID kits and they also had a policeman there who was teaching the kids about Stranger Danger. After he was done talking, he opened it up for questions. Sierra raises her hand and says, "My grandpa told us about Bloody Bill and my Uncle Doug is a policeman who put him in jail so we wouldn't have to worry about him anymore." The cop just looked at me funny and all the adults in the room just started laughing. I'm sure my face went bright red!

So thanks, Grandpa, for introducing all the young kids in Primary to Bloody Bill!

That is really funny!!! Like Mother, like daughter, like Grandfather. I'm just glad Tyler wasn't around when Grandpa told that story. He's always saying that some guy in his room. Thanks for the laugh!

So I was blog stocking and I noticed you have the Broderick family on your friends and family sites. How do you know these guys? It's my sister-in-law Becky's sister?

She is actually in my Pampered Chef cluster, so I've gotten to know her from meetings and stuff. What a small world!

OH MY GOSH! I have been thinking about Bloody Bill too. Do you think Dad is a bad influence? Has he read about this experience? Too funny! My kids love Dad's stories. They freak me out!
