Feeding the Obsession

On Friday, we decided to indulge Jaxson's train obsession and took the kids to Heber to meet Thomas the Train and go for a ride. We started the day off at the mall, to get Brooklyn's pictures taken. We got done right about lunchtime and went to Jay's favorite place to eat, Brick Oven. It was here that we realized we forgot the camera, and had to run home to get it. We actually timed it pretty perfect, because we got to Heber about a half hour before our train was scheduled to depart. We had just enough time to visit the gift shop and go to the bathroom before they started letting us climb aboard. We found a couple of seats that were together, so we all squeezed in. There was about 6 inches separating the seats from eachother, so I had to sit with my knees in between Jay's in order to fit. I can't imagine how people used to travel like that. It was a pretty old car that we rode in. As for the ride itself, it was kinda lame. We went down the track for 10 minutes, then stopped and went the 10 minutes back to the depot. We basically just looked in people's backyards. But, the kids enjoyed it and were excited that it was Thomas who pulled it.

When we got back, we wandered around to visit each of the activities that they had going on. The kids each got a balloon animal made for them and temporary tattoos put on their hands. We visited the tent where they had a whole Lego train city set up and all the trains were going. Jaxson would have stood there forever and threw a tantrum when we made him leave. We visited the petting zoo next, but Jax was scared and just wanted to go back to the Lego tent. Sierra liked the animals and then went to play with the bubbles they had set out. We finally got Jaxson distracted when we made it into the tent with all the train tables. They had fun playing there for awhile and then we visited the gift shop and made out with an engineer hat and train whistle.

We had a great time, even though Jax was a little ornery. (He fell asleep on the way up!) But, it was a great start to our Memorial Day weekend and the weather even cooperated!

Looks like you had a fun day! They look so small next to that big train.
