Happy Birthday, Brooke!

Thursday was Brooke's first birthday and we got up and went to Hogle Zoo! In the past, it has been a tradition to go for Sierra's birthday, but she had a party this year, so we decided to go on Brooke's birthday instead. I love the zoo and we usually go when it's cooler and less busy, but it was still fun. Brooke got all excited when she spotted the elephants and other animals. It didn't take her long, though, until she was sound asleep in her stroller. We went for a ride on the Conservation Carousel, which is their new attraction this year, and of course, went for a train ride. We stopped and ate hot dogs and had a great time visiting all the animals.

When we got home, Brooke took another nap, so we spent the time getting ready for her party. I was lazy and ran out of time to make her a birthday cake, so we just picked one up at the store. She loved her balloons, but couldn't quite figure out what all the fuss was about. Sierra and Jaxson just kept shoving presents in her face and ripping them open. She looked slightly overwhelmed. She did enjoy her gifts, when her siblings let her play with them! She got some new clothes, a wooden animal puzzle that makes animal sounds, a piano/xylophone, and a new Webkinz. Grandma and Grandpa Willes were there and gave her a new shirt that lights up, and a dolly. After presents, we sang Happy Birthday and gave her a big cupcake. She just gave it the stare at first, then started fingerpainting with the frosting. Jay put some on his finger and put it in her mouth and it was over from there. She said, "Mmmmmm," and then started eating it. Like my other kids, she enjoyed it and made a huge mess. After a bath, Grandma and Grandpa Holt came over and brought a little lion that you can use as a walker, or a ride-on. She thought this gift was just great and once she figured out how to push it, she wouldn't let anyone else touch it. I hope she had a fun day. Happy Birthday, Baby!
