The other night I was working and around midnight started hearing noises. The first one I just passed off as the house settling down for the night, but then I heard a distinct scratching noise. I yelled for Jay and when he came down, told him that I thought there was a mouse in the family room. He just gave me that look like, "You called me down here because you're hearing things", and "What do you want me to do about it?" So I told him that I wasn't kidding and he needed to find it. He pokes around for a little bit, but I could tell he just didn't believe me. So he goes into our unfinished room, where I think they get in, and found some mouse poop. With evidence confirmed, he now continues to search better, but to no avail. He put some new boxes of D-Con out, so hopefully we'll get rid of this little bugger. As most of you know, we have a field behind our house and generally get a visitor or two in the spring and the fall. Too bad I can't train Cole to become a mouser. It definitely would help me quit finding them around! If you have any ideas that can help, let me know. I want to get a cat, but Jay won't let me. He wants to get a fake owl and put it outside. I think my plan is better! Care to vote?
As for the spiders and bugs, who doesn't get creeped out by those things. At my sister's house last weekend, we were sitting on the floor talking when a bug ran out from under a bench. I was on the couch and yelled "Bug" and my sister, Jenn, jumped about 10 feet in the air and was across the room in seconds. I've never seen her move that fast. We started getting spiders and bugs showing up around our house too, so after I had to kill a huge one near the kitchen, I had a guy in our ward come and spray. He did the inside and when he went to do the outside, it looked like he hooked up a pressure washer! It was awesome. He sprayed everywhere and the next morning our driveway was bug cemetary! There were dead bugs all over the place. I had to sweep them off for about 3 days. I'm definitely having him come back and Jay told him the next week at church that he was my hero!
And don't even get me started on the snakes! Yes, we get them too, but never in the house, thank goodness. I actually only saw one this year, after Jay hit it with the weed whacker. Ewwwww. He didn't even see it until it went flipping in the air. I guess the morale of my stories, (of which there are many more), is to be prepared if you're going to live at the end of a subdivision, surrounded by fields.

Yeah! It worked. Anyway, you have the perfect Halloween decor! However, don't expect any visits from me until you have that your mice invasion taken care of!
