All About Jax

Happy 4th Birthday, Jax!
My little boy is growing up way too fast. It was a good thing I didn't plan a big party this year, because all the kids are sick again. They've got coughs and runny noses, so instead of heading out to The Mayan for a birthday dinner, we jumped in the truck and headed to Jax's favorite place to eat: McDonalds. Or as he says it, "Old McDonalds."

We didn't do much during the day since Jay went to work and Sierra went to school. Jax took a nap and when he woke up, Dad had come home with a big bouquet of balloons, and I had gotten his cake decorated. This year was all about pirates, and he was so excited to see the front room all decorated just for him. After Sierra got home, we headed out for dinner, and Grandma & Grandpa Holt were at our house waiting when we got back. We opened presents, ate cake, and had a fun party with just our family. We'll have to plan something more special when they are feeling better.
Some fun things about Jax:
He is a total Nintendo nerd, just like his mom. He'd play his DS all day if he could and loves to play the Wii. He's actually getting quite good at the games.
He loves pirates. We have pirate books, and he plays with his Playmobil pirates all the time.
He loves to read. He's always up for cuddling on the couch and reading a good story.
He loves trains. He has a huge set of GeoTrax that keep getting bigger and bigger. They'll cover our whole family room now. He still runs to the window to watch as the trains go past the house.
He loves Mickey Mouse. He watches Playhouse Disney all the time and plays it on the computer too. I'm excited to take him to Disneyland this year.
He loves going to preschool and his teacher says he's very smart. He can repeat the Pledge of Allegiance, and write his name very well.
He loves to play outside.
He's kind of timid. He's very laid back and tends to follow whatever his big sister does. He didn't like the big rides at Lagoon, but was happy on the little ones. He is so fun to scare, because he freaks out so bad. You can get the kid to jump a mile!
He loves junk food. He's up for any sweets, candy, cake, brownies, etc... He also loves pizza and black beans. There are times I tell him he's full of beans and he always says, "Yeah, black beans." I think it is kind of a weird thing for a kid to like, but he loves to eat Aunt Wendy's black bean and corn enchiladas.
He loves to watch movies. We have movie night every Friday, and the kids snuggle down in their blankets and pillows with popcorn and orange julius to drink.
He's the messiest eater ever. We work on this every night at dinner, but I don't think it will ever change. He likes to eat with his hands, and play with his food. His food turns into tractors and trucks, or animals. Ewww, maybe someday he'll change his habits.
He sometimes ends up at the end of our bed in the middle of the night, laying on our feet.
He's a lovable kid and likes to tell us that he loves us and give big hugs, or cuddle on our laps.
He hates to pick up his toys and do his chores. Hopefully it won't be long for him to grow out of this stage.
He likes to help me in the kitchen and learn to cook.
We Love You, Jax! We hope you had a great day and are proud to have you in our family.

Love that big pirate balloon! And his cake is awesome. Great job! I'll hire you to do my kids' cakes in the future. You definitely got that gene. Happy Birthday, Jaxson!
