Joy in the Simple Things

It always amazes me how much joy I find in watching my kids learn and discover new things. They are always excited and happy over everything and it always makes me laugh.

Brooklyn is growing up so fast. In the last couple of weeks, she has learned to clap, wave, stand up and cruise along the furniture, and get back down without just falling. It is weird to walk in and find her standing up in her crib now. She's such a smart little girl and I'm afraid she takes after her big sis! She crawls over and climbs on anything that is sitting on the floor whether it's blankets, pillows, or totes full of toys. She still doesn't have any teeth, but she wants to eat our food so bad. I think it's time we have to switch. Good thing we've got two Food Choppers in the cupboard! At least she still gets super excited to see us when we come in her room, or when Jay gets home from work. She about jumps out of my arms to go see her Dad. I think it makes his day.

As for Jax, his obsession with trains is getting out of control. As I was putting him to bed the other night, he heard a train and wanted to go look out the front door. Since it was bedtime, I told him no, but that I'd hold him up for a minute to see it. Just my luck, it was the slowest moving train I've ever seen and I had to hold that kid up until it was gone. He's so heavy, I thought my arm was going to fall off! It definitely went numb. He even got up twice in the middle of the night last night and went in the girl's room to look out the window to see the train. (He can climb on Sierra's bed to see it, but not his own.) And, unfortunately, he woke Brooke in the process. I'm glad he finds such enjoyment in trains, but I think he's getting too obsessed. He told me he wants to drive a train when he grows up. Thanks so much, Grandpa, for buying him his first train set!

Sierra is still learning and growing too, even though it's not as simple as ABC's and 123's. She is starting to write really well, and her pictures are actually of things now instead of just lines and dots. She drew me a great picture of our family and another one of a flower. I can actually tell what they are too! She is also great at coloring. She stays in the lines really well and is great at doing her worksheets. She gets so excited about anything princess, and still doesn't know how to walk anywhere without running. If only I could get her excited about cleaning her room!

Life is always a challenge, but having kids definitely helps you to slow down and find joy in the simple things!

I definitely feel the same way. Just take a day to soak up your kids because they really do grow up too fast. Some days you feel like you've had it with being a mom and then these moments come and melt your heart. Thanks for sharing!

Well this is a different entry from the last one! How things and feeling change from moment to moment! I wouldn't miss it for the world. Ain't being a mom great? Where else can you get such challenges and better rewards so quickly?

Hey Jay and family! The kids are so big now, and Brooklyn is soo cute!

Thanks for visiting my blog and directing me to yours. I've wondered how the old Seagull crew is doing--I really enjoyed working with you, Jay, and the girls. Fond memories :)

I'm excited to be able to keep up with your family. Have a great weekend!
