Although school technically started last Monday, Kindergarteners have a week off to do testing, so Sierra's first day of school was today. She goes to school in the afternoon, so we walked down to the bus stop after lunch. She was pretty excited and just a little bit nervous. Since the bus wasn't there when we got there, she thought it was late. There were 5 other kids waiting for the bus, but none were in her Primary class and none of them had her teacher, so she didn't know any of them. She got all excited when we could see the bus coming down the street, and she got right in line and got on the bus without so much as a wave!
I could barely make out the top of her head as she made her way among the seats, but we stayed there and waved until the bus left. I wasn't sad, just a little nervous that she would make it where she was supposed to go and make it back home all by herself. As we started walking back home, Jax grabbed my hand and said, "I miss Sisi." It was cute, but I don't think he cared much when he realized that he would have the Wiimote to Mario Party all to himself.
She said that she enjoyed her class, but all she would tell me is that she went to Recess and had a snack. I think she's just like her father! She had fun, though, and said she likes her teacher.
After she made it home from school, (it was a relief to see her walk around the corner), we had to get ready for gymnastics. Today was her first time to go to her gymnastics class and she was super excited for it. She got in her leotard and we headed over. She went right in, and I went grocery shopping. I got done just in time to get back and pick her up. She had loads to tell me this time! She had fun walking and doing bunny hops on the balance beam, swinging on the bar, and doing handstands. In fact, she was doing handstands all night long just to show us that she could do it! She had a blast and said she likes it better than Kindergarten and better than the dance class she had last year. She wants to go everyday.
It was definitely weird to think that my little girl was big enough to go to school today, and it's weird to think that we have to do it all again tomorrow. I was looking at the picture and realized she's only as big as the tire on the bus! But, it's just our next phase of life and I guess we'll get used to it in a hurry.

She looks so cute and little to be going off to school. I'm glad she had a good day (as well as you) and that she likes gymnastics too!
