Couldn't Wait!

Sorry, I've been trying to be good and not change my blog until after Thanksgiving, but I couldn't wait. I'm so excited for Christmas and am hoping to be busy this weekend painting my kitchen, so tonight was the night.

Why do I like Christmas:
The Sights: I love to see lights on all the houses, decorations on every street, and trees in every window. One of our traditions is to go for a drive and look at lights. Jay never quite understood why this was so fun, but we figured out it's because they all look the same to him! Anyway, we love to sing carols and we're still trying to find a house up in Alpine that is so bright it shines like a beacon. For three years, we've never found the road to this house. May be this will be the year!

The Sounds: I love Christmas music. My favorite CD is Martina McBride's White Christmas. If you're looking for a good, soft, classic Christmas CD, this is it. My favorite by far. I love jingle bells and the hustle and bustle of the mall. I love the sound of the kids laughter and the ripping of wrapping paper as they open their gifts and discover new things. And of course, "Ho, Ho, Ho."

The Smells: I love the smell of cinnamon pine cones and fresh cut Christmas trees. Fresh baked bread, rolls, and goodies, mmmmm. Roasted nuts and yummy soaps and lotions from Bath & Body Works in the mall. The crispness of the frosty mornings and snowflakes in the air. The warmth of a campfire and a big mug of hot chocolate, with just a bit of peppermint.

The Tastes: It's all about the food. Our traditional Christmas dinner: Honey-baked ham, cheesy potato casserole, homemade rolls, raspberry jell-o salad, deviled eggs, and banana cream pie. I love getting homebaked treats from friends and neighbors, cherry chocolates, life saver books in my stocking, and popcorn tins.

The Feelings: The excitement on Christmas Eve and our best tradition: jammies and a sleepover all together. Waking up on Chrismas morn and rushing to our stockings. Giving gifts and seeing the joy it brings. Helping the needy and feeding the hungry. Reading the story of Jesus' birth and singing Silent Night in Sacrament Meeting. Going to Temple Square and feeling the Spirit.

What a magical, crazy, wonderful, busy time of year. I love it!

Hey - you took the one I was going to do! Once again we have great taste! That's so funny about Jay seeing the lights as the same - makes sense now. I love Christmas too and don't blame you for changing the background already, I've been back and forth, but now I think I'll change it hee hee!
