Why is it that the bad things all seem to hit you at once? Our garage door has been having issues for quite some time now, but being the procrastinators that we are, we haven't done anything about it. So, last week, it went up halfway and stopped. We couldn't get it to do anything, so we had a guy come out to fix it. He fixed it and the next day, you guessed it, it stopped working again. So, he came back out and said we'd probably need a whole new unit, but ended up fixing it again and left. As we left that evening, yup, it didn't work. So, we are still working on getting that taken care of.
Last night as we went to bed, Jay went to get Cole and he was nowhere to be found. His tie-out was broken and we had no idea where or how long he'd been gone. I stepped onto the front porch and whistled. Nothing. I whistled again, and we saw a shadow dart out down the street under the lamp. Thank goodness it was him and he came running home when we called to him!
Today I was vacuuming out the truck (since our kids don't realize that food belongs in their mouths and not on the floor), when the vacuum started shuddering. I know Jay said the belt was having some issues the other night, but when the vacuum started smoking, I figured it was best to turn it off! Ya, it's sitting out on the front porch waiting for Jay to see if it can be salvaged.
After the vacuum incident, I went inside the house to put Jax and Brooke down for their naps so I could get showered and ready. I usually read until Brooke quits making noise and goes down for the count, but she was up for quite awhile. Usually when that happens, she has messed her pants and won't go to sleep. A quick whiff by the door confirmed this, so I went in to change her and put her back down. Well, she had her pants off and there was poop EVERYWHERE! It was on her hands, clothes, crib, bedding, stuffed animals, the wall, her legs, you name it. So she ended up in the tub while I spent a fun time wiping everything down and being completely grossed out. Her diaper was still on, so she must have been sliding her hands in from the side. Ewwww.
Oh, and the neighbor boys decided to destroy our small trees that are growing on the side of our yard, so it will be interesting to see if they will be living next summer. (The trees, I mean, not the little boys. Then again, hmmmmm.)
I guess it can always be worse. At least we didn't get stuck for a week in Vegas! Right, Steph! Then again, another vacation sounds awful good right now.
