This week has been crazy, like usual. I had a PC meeting on Monday night and since Jay was at work, I had to take all the kids with me. It was a family event that was held nationwide because they announced our new trip destination that we can earn next year. Are you ready for this... Disneyworld! I'm way excited and would love to earn this trip so I can take my family there for free! Wahoo! So here's my shameless plug. If you'd like to host, I'll love you forever. And please think of me when you need gifts for weddings, birthdays, etc. It's only with your help that I'll be able to make it. We had a great time and it was definitely my lucky night. I won three drawingsand got some great stuff! It was worth it to go, even though I had to chase my kids all over.
We started planning a month ago for Young Women in Excellence. Meri, the president informed us that we had to also be in charge of a Sacrament Meeting the following week, so I promptly volunteered to do anything and everything, including speak, at YW in E instead of speaking in sacrament. I also got put in charge of refreshments. (Big surprise!)
Our theme was every star is different and we decorated by putting stars everywhere. I got this awesome, insane idea to do a berries and stars dessert. I took the original recipe and modified it to feed 50. So, I spent about 4 hours on Saturday standing in my kitchen cutting tiny stars out of Puff Pastry and baking them. The rest of the dessert went together fairly quick and Jay was kind enough to come to the church and help me layer the pastry stars, strawberries, blueberries, and Cool Whip concoction. They did turn out amazing and were a big hit.
I guess it was good that I had to focus my attention on that, because every time I thought about speaking, the butterflies would start and I would just go nuts. I know it's crazy to get so worked up and I try to talk myself out of it, but I hate public speaking. My chest gets tight and I forget to breathe so my voice goes all funky and shaky. It even happened when I had to just say the prayer in sacrament! Of course, I was the first speaker and the only other person speaking besides Meri. Thank goodness it is over and I can relax and watch everyone else speak next week! The good thing is that I have tons of leftover blueberries, so we're having homemade blueberry muffins for breakfast! Yum!

Catherine,
I will totally be there with you. Just need to work on those recruits. I have started asking everyone at my shows but no takers yet.
