Whoo-hoo, my favorite holiday finally came! It was a couple of fun, busy days. My sister came up from Las Vegas, so we celebrated with her for the holiday.
Thursday, Sierra and Jaxson both had school early. Sierra was going on a field trip to Hee Haws and had to go with the morning classes, so we got her off and then worked on Jax. He had to get dressed up for his Halloween party at preschool. He was going as Buzz Lightyear, so we got him all dressed with a few minutes to spare. I ran downstairs to check on something and when I came back up, he had half his costume off! After a quick bathroom run, we got dressed again and he headed off to preschool. I picked him up later and did a trunk or treat with the preschool kids, then we left to pick up Sierra.
After school, we went to see the witches at Gardner Village. We walked around, took pictures, and rode the ponies. The kids loved the witches and had a blast hanging out with their cousins. After a few hours, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for some Taco Soup, then got loaded up again to go to Hee Haw farms. Since Sierra had already been, she showed us her favorite part: a huge slide that you slid down on gunny sacks. The kids loved it, especially Brooke. Even Katelyn got in on the fun after some convincing. When Jenn and Kyle finally showed up, we headed in to the corn maze. It wasn't haunted, but Uncle Kyle jumped out right at the beginning scaring Clark half out of his wits! He cried about 5 minutes before he calmed down. Although it was still a little spooky, the kids had fun.
Friday morning we got up and carved pumpkins. Jay had the day off, so he helped all the kids get their pumpkins done. I helped Sierra get ready for school, dressed as a witch. The bus was so late, I missed getting to her school to take pics of her Halloween parade, but I'm sure she didn't notice. She got home and soon after, Kris and Joe showed up for dinner. I made two different batches of chili, and we had homemade root beer. The kids had a blast watching the dry ice do its job and Uncle Joe even showed them how to suck it up and blow the smoke out of their mouths. Thanks, Joe! After the kids got down a few bites, it was a mad dash to get in their costumes. This time Sierra was a cat, Jax a dog, and Brooke a bee. After getting socks and shoes on, faces painted, and pictures taken, they all headed off to trick-or-treat while I stayed home to hand out candy. It sprinkled off and on and Jenn and Kyle showed back up pretty quick so their costumes wouldn't get ruined. They looked great as Giselle and Prince Edward from Enchanted. After a quick round of the neighborhood, we all left for Grandma and Grandpa's house. There we had donuts, apple cider, and loads of other treats. We played a fun game of Neon Leon (see my sister, Kristen Stuart's post!), and then watched the new Tinkerbell movie. The kids were exhausted and fell asleep in the truck on the way home. It was the easiest night ever to get them in bed!
We have tons of traditions for each and every holiday and I'm so glad that I get to pass them on to my kids now. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, next to Christmas, and I hope my kids will love it too.
